NPL: Werrribee City opens safety gap to Red Devils

Werribee City holds the aces in the race for National Premier League safety after a gutsy 2-1 win over Ballarat Red Devils at Morshead Park Stadium on Saturday.

The Bees, victorious on the back of two first-half goals in two minutes from Simon Tolli, have opened up a six-point break over the second-last Red Devils with two rounds to play.

But the Reds have two catch-up games to play from postponements earlier in the season.

In state league 4, Point Cook beat Melton Phoenix 4-0 and Hoppers Crossing beat FC Strathmore 2-1.

Truganina had the bye in state league 5, losing ground on top-two Keilor Wolves and Spring Hills, but those clubs have byes to come.
