VTCA: Point Cook sharpens title credentials

Point Cook has further enhanced its reputation as the team to beat in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association west B1.

The Warriors extended their lead at the top of the table with a 109-run dismantling of Footscray ANA at Saltwater Reserve on Saturday.

ANA (61) got bogged down by some brilliant bowling from Troy Semmens (3-10), David Hicks (3-17) and Bryan Munce (3-17).

The Warriors powered to 4-170 from their allotted 40 overs with openers Daryl Groves (79 not out) and Stephen Luedi (50) taking them past the target.

Wyndhamvale copped a five-wicket loss to Sunshine United at Selwyn Park.

The Falcons made 8-135 courtesy of a half-century to opener Stuart Crowe (53).

They were well and truly in the box seat with United in trouble at 4-26, but the middle order rescued the innings with Daniel Norris (59 not out) proving the match winner.

Seabrook made it three wins from four outings in a hard-fought win over Kingsville Baptists at Angliss Reserve.

The Brookers made 6-121 in 25 rain-reduced overs and the Baptists managed 7-89 in reply.
