Anton De Pasquale kept to the speed limit in his recent driving licence test but admits it wasn’t easy.
The 18-year-old racing driver is used to driving at speeds up to 250km/h and has been behind the wheel of Australian Formula Ford Championship cars for two years. He’s the current series leader.
The Werribee student hopes to take things to a higher level as Australia’s only representative in the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy’s Asia-Pacific selection event in Sydney from October 20-23. De Pasquale will compete for a spot in the European academy where young drivers are taught to become professional racers.
The year 12 Westbourne Grammar School student says his dream is to take the podium where his hero, Australian Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, has stood.
“I love the thrill of competing at high speed … it gives me an adrenalin rush.”
