WERRIBEE will be without Majak Daw for the remainder of the
Victorian Football League season after North Melbourne elected to book
him in for knee surgery last week.
Daw turned out in 10 matches for the Tigers this year, averaging 20 hitouts a game and booting 15 goals.
But he has been battling a posterior cruciate ligament injury, and will have surgery now so he can resume in February.
This could leave the majority of the ruck duties to Daniel Currie,
who recently re-signed with North Melbourne until the end of 2015.
Currie is yet to make his AFL debut, but has been one of the
shining lights at the Tigers since returning from a finger injury in
June.
Werribee has plenty of talls to help him out, with Ben Brown having seven hitouts against the Northern Blues.
“Currie’s been in really good form, he’s battling against Todd
Goldstein, which is difficult, but for us he has been great,” said coach
Scott West.
“I’m a huge wrap for Ben Brown and his ability to go into the ruck and relieve Currie is a huge bonus for us, having lost Majak.”
