THE Werribee Devils’ women’s team put in their most dominant display of the Big V division 2 basketball season on Sunday but the men’s team crashed to an eight-point defeat.
The women, sitting second with only one loss this season, thrashed Western Port Steelers 63-19, remarkably holding the Steelers scoreless in the opening stanza.
Three Devils – Lisa Troyahn (12), Emma Coyne (12) and Jacqueline Silcock (10) – scored double-figure points.
Meanwhile, the Werribee men remain in sixth place in the state championship after a 87-79 loss to third-ranked Ringwood Hawks.
The Devils outscored the Hawks in the first and third quarters but were hammered 37-21 in the second.
Jordan Hughes (21) and Dion Jewell (20) led the way for Werribee.
