JESSICA Cameron is the premier female cricketer in the land.
The 23-year-old from Werribee edged out fellow Victorian Meg Lanning to claim the prestigious Belinda Clark Award for Australia’s player of the year.
The Williamstown-born top order batsman was instrumental in the Southern Stars defence of their World Twenty20 title in 2012.
Cameron could not collect the award in person at Cricket Australia’s night of nights at the Crown Casino last Monday as she’s on international duty with the Stars at the 2013 Women’s World Cup in India.
After her win, she tweeted: “Thanks everyone for the messages of support!!! Words can’t describe how I feel!!! Now to win a World Cup!!!”
