WERRIBEE Tigers will feature on the Victorian Football League’s opening day in a blockbuster stand-alone clash with Port Melbourne at North Port Oval on March 30.
The Tigers first home game of the season will be a Saturday night affair a week later when the Northern Blues arrive in town.
That will be one of two night fixtures at Chirnside Park, with the visit of Collingwood seven days later to also take place under lights.
The much-anticipated first western derby with Williamstown will take place at Burbank Oval in round three.
In a strange decision, the VFL opted against a return game at Watton Street, robbing local fans the chance to see one of the west’s biggest rivalries.
The Tigers have locked in most of their preseason schedule.
Their first practice match will be against Williamstown at Whitten Oval on March 1.
Others pre-season games will follow against Sandringham on March 9 and against Coburg Tigers on the weekend of March 16-17 at a venue to be announced.
