Youth space feedback opens

Wyndham council is calling on residents to let it know how they would like to see a new youth space in Manor Lakes used.

Those aged 12-25 have the chance to have their say on the new outdoor youth space that has been planned for the Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre.

The outdoor space will be built with a state government funding allocation that aims to encourage young people to participate in recreational activities in a safe space and strengthen connections with the local community.

The proposed location of the outdoor space is next to the Youth Services hub at Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre, within the northern edge of the car park.

Mayor Mia Shaw said the space will be designed to support a variety of activities and casual play to be enjoyed year-round with shade and seating.

“During earlier consultation with young people who use the centre, a basketball ring and futsal goal were the most popular suggestions,” she said.

“Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre is a welcoming hub where young people gather after school to catch up with friends and use facilities like the community centre and library.

“It is wonderful that we can now provide an additional space where young people and other users of the centre can have fun, stay active, socialise and where we can expand opportunities for community programming.”
