It’s time to pick up your camera and get snap- happy.

Wyndham council’s annual youth photography competition is under way, with people aged 13 to 25 who live, work, study or visit Wyndham being encouraged to get creative with the theme ‘Way out West’.

Free photography workshops are being held throughout Wyndham during the competition to help budding photographers hone their skills.

The council’s arts, culture and heritage portfolio-holder, Tony Hooper, says winners will share in prizes valued at $1000, including a $500 voucher for the grand prize and $100 vouchers for the best landscape and funniest photo.

“It can be a photo about life in the western suburbs, your local football team or even a cowboy-themed photo,” Cr Hooper said. “Think creatively and take a photo that will blow the judges’ minds.”

Entries are open until March 17. Winners will be announced at an exhibition of the best photos at the Plaza library on March 31.
