Wyndham council’s draft budget for 2019-20 includes $139.1 million of capital works.
The draft budget, released last week, proposes spending $6.9 million to complete Wyndham Park’s redevelopment and $8.2 million in projects to “reactivate” the Werribee CBD, such as the Bridge Hotel redevelopment.
The council also allocated $3.5 million to widen and seal Hacketts Road between Tamworth Grove and Aviation Road, in Point Cook; $500,000 for design work to widen roads in Little River; and $500,000 to “progress the design” of Ison Road.
Mayor Mia Shaw said $250,000 was earmarked to develop “detailed designs” to upgrade the intersection of Point Cook and Sneydes roads, “so that the project is shovel-ready”.
Cr Kim McAliney said the designs, which include more lanes and traffic signals, would be completed in the 2019-20 financial year.
“This positions us well to work with VicRoads to program the construction as soon as possible,” she said.
Aside from roads, the draft budget includes $7.125 million to design and construct new cells at the municipal tip in Wests Road, Werribee.
The budget also proposes spending $3.6 million to complete the Truganina East Integrated Family Learning Centre; $1 million to complete the Wunggurrwil Dhurrung Centre (proposed name) in Wyndham Vale; and $2 million to upgrade The Grange Community Centre in Hoppers Crossing.
A further $9.2 million has been dedicated for two facilities, offering early childhood services and other services, in Tarneit and Truganina.
Other draft budget items include $1.74 million to the upgrade the facilities at Galvin Park; $1.236 million for a library in Williams Landing; and $772,000 to “fix” drainage and upgrade carparks at the K Road cliffs.
The council has proposed setting the mayoral allowance for 2019-20 at $98,464 and councillor allowances at $30,827.
