Spring cleaning season has arrived and Wyndham residents are rolling up their garage doors for the annual National Garage Sale Trail.
Wyndham ranked third in sales – at 111 locations – in Victoria last year and was 11th nationwide, with the average participating Wyndham household making $320 in sales.
Wyndham council environment and sustainability portfolio-holder Cr Peter Gibbons said the Garage Sale Trail, to be opened this year on Saturday, October 24, had multiple benefits for the community.
“Not only is it a great way for households to clear some space … it’s fantastic for the environment, with an average of almost seven shopping trolleys full of items sold per garage sale and diverted from landfill,” he said.
“The National Garage Sale Trail is a great community event, with an opportunity to walk through your suburb, find some bargains and get to know your neighbours.”
