Wyndham gets LIT

Wyndham’s LIT festival opened over the weekend, garnering more than 10,000 visitors at Wyndham Park.

Hosted by Wyndham council, the event featured inflatable sculptures of poodles, bull terriers and dachshunds named the Lost Dogs’ Disco by ENESS.

On the bridge of dreams, festival goers were able to send in their own dreams and have them displayed on the bridge throughout the evening.

Laxmi Karmaker from Werribee said one of the benefits of the festival was that it was local.

“My husband and my friends told me about it and I came because of my daughter,” Ms Karmaker said.

“She likes lighting. I’m really excited for her to see it. It looks very good.”

Other residents shared that it was a good opportunity to leave the house, after spending so much time indoors.

Wyndham councillor Marcel Mahfoud encouraged residents to attend and enjoy the experience.

“LIT is designed to enjoy at your own pace, with the relaxed outdoor setting of Wyndham Park providing plenty of space to take in the playful, illuminated works,” Mr Mahfoud said.

Some attendees brought food and drinks and set up picnics on the lawn, enjoying the lights from a distance.

Booths at each entrance were set up for families with children to pick up a wristband with their contact details on it, in case of emergency.

Entrance to the event is free and LIT will continue to run from 8-11pm every night until 6 March.
