Wyndham’s baby boom shows no signs of abating, with a record number of births at Werribee Mercy Hospital over the past year.

There were 3748 babies, including 50 sets of twins, born at the hospital last year.

That’s up from 3411 bubs in 2015, and 3014 births the year before.

Mercy Health’s health services chief executive Linda Mellors said 52.7 per cent of babies born at Werribee Mercy last year were baby boys, 47.3 per cent were baby girls.

The figures come as new Births, Deaths and Marriages statistics reveal the most popular boys and girls names among Victorian parents.

Charlotte, Olivia, Mia, Amelia and Ava were the top five names for baby girls last year, while for the boys, Oliver, Jack, William, Noah and James were most popular.

Dr Mellors said six baby girls had been named Charlotte and six boys named Oliver.

“However, not all parents decide on their baby’s name while in hospital, so this number could in fact be higher,” she said.

Werribee Mercy Hospital is predicted to deliver more than 3700 babies again this year.
