A world-class event will take place at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre this week.

The 2021 PSI (Performance Sales International) Dressage and Jumping with the Stars event will mark the return of competition to the centre, following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Horses and riders will participate in the event from Thursday to Saturday.

The event is known for hosting Australian equestrian stars, including future champions, and features a range of competitions including a World Cup Qualifier in jumping.

Destination Wyndham portfolio holder, Cr Heather Marcus, has encouraged residents to attend the National Equestrian Centre to take in the action.

“While the event attracts visitors from far and wide, this is a fantastic opportunity for locals to experience a world class equestrian event in their own backyard,” Cr Marcus said.

Cr Marcus said the event would also boost tourism in Wyndham.

“The 2021 PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our region to visitors,” she said.

“COVID-19 has had a profound impact on the events industry and venues throughout the nation.

“Events like these have a strong economic impact, with visitors and competitors staying and dining out here, and it’s a great opportunity to encourage them to return and visit our many attractions.”

Tickets to the event include $20 for a one-day pass into the trade village and all outdoor arenas, or $65 for three days including unreserved tiered seating in the indoor, the jumping lawn and outdoor dressage areas, plus parking.
