For the past four decades, Wyndham children have been turning to Chris Dodd to help fix their problems.
No problem was ever too great, as she helped pupils with everything from lost jumpers and excursion permission slips, to finding them replacement lunches when they’d left theirs at home.
Last week, the Woodville Primary School teacher was recognised for 45 years service with the education department during a special assembly at the school.
Ms Dodd joined Woodville in 1981, having started her teaching career at Glen Devon Primary School.
Over the course of her career, she has been a classroom teacher, a physical education teacher and a library teacher. Now, she teaches English as an additional language (EAL) to Woodville pupils.
Principal Lyn Vincent said Ms Dodd worked very hard to make sure that people got what they needed.
She said that many former pupils, who were now parents and teachers at the school, looked back fondly on their time under the guidance of Ms Dodd.
“We thank you for a fabulous 45 years in education,” she said.
“We thank you for all that you have done for the Werribee community.”
Ms Dodd said that she had seen significant changes in education and at Woodville.
When she first started teaching at Woodville, the school had only 1000 pupils. Now it has about 4000.
She said she loved helping pupils to achieve their best.
“I just enjoy working with them and watching them grow and learn,” she said.
