Students at Woodville Primary School tapped into their inner authors recently for the school’s literacy and numeracy week.
Literacy coach Lis Gilchrist said kids across all year levels got to dress up as their favourite characters for a book parade, visited 100 Story Building in Footscray and took part in creating a “whole-school book”.
“Each class in the school adds a page to the story, so it’s an ongoing process,” she said.
“This year’s story is about someone going into a black hole, which takes them on to all sorts of wonderful adventures.
“Once we’ve got the whole story, we read it out across the PA, and we display the book so that the kids can read it.”
The school was also involved in this year’s Wyndham Spelling Bee, which involved more than 20 schools.
Woodville pupil David won the 5/6 competition, while Ashmi was knocked out in the third round of the 3/4 competition.
