A scholarship program for women in, or wishing to join, the transport industry has been established by Transport Women Australia Limited and Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific.

Scholarships will be offered to four women this year, to undertake a course that will advance their careers or expand their knowledge to enhance their current position, or give other women the chance to become part of the industry.

Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific president and chief executive, Daniel Whitehead, said the company was proud to work with Transport Women Australia Limited – an organisation which represents women in the transport industry – to sponsor the ‘Driving the Difference Scholarship’ as part of its focus on gender equality.

The four scholarship winners will be announced at the Transport Women Australia Limited 20th anniversary gala dinner on November 16.

Transport Women Australia Limited chair, Jacquelene Brotherton – who is also transport manager at Oxford Cold Storage in Laverton North – said the group was excited about the scholarship program.

Applications for the scholarships will close on October 31.
