Geelong-based not-for-profit organisation Wombat’s Wish, which supports children who have experienced the death of a parent, will expand its services into Wyndham this year.
Wombat’s Wish is named in the tradition of the UK not-for-profit organisation Winston’s Wish, and assists children dealing with loss and grief.
Program co-ordinator Guy Mitchell said Wombat’s Wish has been operating for 13 years, and has supported hundreds of children in that time, predominately youngsters from Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Every year, Wombat’s Wish also runs two camps for up to 40 children.
This year, for the first time, it will run the Wombat’s Wish Wyndham Camp from October 25–27 in Anglesea.
The organisation is currently accepting referrals of children from Wyndham, for the camp.
“Moving into western Melbourne has long been a goal of the organisation and we are very pleased to now do so with a camp dedicated for the Wyndham region,” Mr Mitchell said.
