A new primary school in Wyndham Vale is one step closer to fruition.
The state government last week announced a $236.8 million funding package to buy land for 14 new schools across the state, including the Wollahra Primary School slated for Wyndham Vale.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the funding would buy land for schools across Melbourne’s booming inner and outer suburbs including Rockbank, Deanside, Mickleham, Cobblebank, Seddon, Clyde North, Wollert, Cranbourne West and Pakenham.
School sites were identified following analysis of demographics and enrolment data at existing schools.
Mr Pallas said land for Wollahra Primary School is likely to be acquired by February next year, with the final location yet to be determined.
“The Victorian School Building Authority will then manage the design and construction,” he said.
“It’s no secret that Werribee is booming, and we have got on with the job of delivering the new schools local families are crying out for. When it opens, Wollahra Primary School will be a great local school that the whole community can be proud of.
“This investment will break the cycle of short-term planning for new schools and give families the certainty they need that their kids can attend a great local government school where they can get a great education – no matter where they live.”
The state government will start running community consultation on the project in coming weeks. From March 28, go to engage.vic.gov.au to have your say.
