The Tonia T Boutique will hold a fashion parade on Friday to kick off a weekend of festive fun in Werribee.
The parade, at 7pm, is part of a major event in the Werribee town centre, which will also feature roving entertainment, children’s activities, face painting, a visit from Santa and a MADE on Watton Christmas Market at Wyndham Cultural Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The event has been put together by Wyndham council, businesses and organisations to encourage residents to “shop local” in the lead-up to Christmas.
Tonia Tribe from the Tonia T Boutique said the past two years have been an incredibly difficult time for small businesses, due to the constant and unpredictable COVID-19 lockdowns.
“At times it has seemed quite overwhelming, but I guess we all love what we do so much, that you just dig deeper and find a way to get through,” she said.
“Fortunately having a business in a small community like ours means that the support from the locals is immediate and extraordinary.”
Ms Tribe said that because the past two years have been so tough, she decided to go “all out” with her shop’s Christmas windows to bring joy to the community.
Ms Tribe she gave her visual merchandiser Emily, from Emily.K Visual Merchandising, a brief “to make the window the biggest, brightest and best it has ever been”.
“The results have been extraordinary,” Ms Tribe said.
“We have had people who have just been walking by, pop in purely to tell us how beautiful they are, and they are even more beautiful at night when the lights just sparkle.”
