Construction is about to start on the first apartment block at Williams Landing, with 90 per cent of its apartments already sold off the plan.

The four-storey Newton Apartments, which will be located within Williams Landing town centre, includes 57 one and two bedroom apartments, and has already attracted diverse buyers – many already locals.

Sales data shows 12 Williams Landing buyers have already signed on to call the new apartments home, with a further 12 coming from neighbouring suburbs Point Cook, Truganina and Derrimut.

Truganina’s Bena Ismael is one of them.

The 36-year-old accountant and first home buyer said she had originally been looking to buy a house in the area, but was attracted to the “reasonable price” and location of the Newton Apartments.

“I consider Williams Landing to be one of the premium suburbs around the area,” she said.

“I know some people would want to buy a house for the idea that you have your own land, but the one that I bought is on the ground floor and has a courtyard, and that’s enough for me.

“The apartment is close to the train station, close to the freeway.”

Nathan Blackburne from Cedar Woods, developers of the apartment block, said construction would start this month and was scheduled for completion by mid-next year.

“It’s great feedback for us when existing customers are investing in, and living in, our developments because it means they can see the value that we’re adding to the area,” Mr Blackburne said.

“The development responds to consumer, state government and local government demand for higher density … to cater for population growth.”
