Police have charged a 22-year-old Williams Landing man in relation to an alleged carjacking in Manor Lakes on Saturday, December 14.
Police allege that two victims were sitting inside their vehicle parked on Eureka Drive, when they were approached by two males armed with machetes about 11pm.
Police said the alleged offenders forced the two victims out of the car, before stealing the red Hyundai wagon and taking off along Eureka Drive.
One of the victims was taken to hospital with a minor injury.
Officers spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Kings Road and Wellesey Drive in Taylors Lakes.
Police allege the driver continued to drive the vehicle west along the Calder Freeway, on the wrong side of the road, before coming to a stop on the freeway near Organs Pipe Road.
Police said the pair allegedly dumped the vehicle and fled on foot into nearby grassland, where one of the alleged offenders was arrested shortly afterwards.
The second offender was not located.
The Williams Landing man will be charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally causing injury and conduct endangering serious injury.
He appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, December 15.
