Applications are now open for the state government’s Wildlife Rehabilitator Grants program, which supports wildlife shelters across the state.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas has encouraged wildlife shelter operators and foster carers based in Wyndham to apply for these grants to support their important work.

A total of $230,000 worth of grants will be available through the program.

“These grants help wildlife carers cover the day-to-day costs of running their service including vet fees and supplies, feed for the animals, and enclosures for the wildlife to live in while they are rehabilitated,” Mr Pallas said.

“This is about supporting the volunteers who house, feed and care for our wildlife when they need it most.

“It’s important to acknowledge and support the selfless work of our dedicated wildlife shelter operators and foster carers in Werribee.”

Authorised wildlife shelter operators and foster carers can apply for grants of up to $3000 for equipment, infrastructure, consumables, education and training.

Applications will close at 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 13.
