Work has started on a $4 million upgrade to Sneydes Road. The upgrade, which is part of a $71 million package to improve connector roads ahead of construction at East Werribee, will include the sealing of the sides of Sneydes Road between the Princes Highway and Hoppers Lane.
When works are completed, narrow lanes will be no more, the road will be safer for the 9000 drivers who use it daily, and traffic flows will improve.
Speaking at the site last Wednesday, Treasurer and Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the works would result in a smoother, safer road.
“Widening the lanes on Sneydes Road will improve safety for all road users,” he said.
Other works taking place include construction of a diamond freeway interchange at Sneydes Road to give motorists access to the Princess Freeway, and installation of traffic lights at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Sneydes Road.
Extra lanes will go in at the Princes Highway, Hoppers Lane and Old Geelong Road intersections, while traffic lights will be erected at Sneydes Road and Hoppers Lane.
A shared path is being extended from Point Cook to give cycling commuters a direct route to Federation Trail, near Hoppers Lane, without needing to dismount.
“Works are now under way at all key spots surrounding the East Werribee employment precinct,” Mr Pallas said.
