A new and improved Skeleton Creek Bridge in Point Cook is taking shape following a hefty crane operation that delivered 21 beams.
Carried out over three nights between May 17 and 20, each beam took about an hour to move and install, with some of the beams weighing 60 tonnes.
Major Road Projects Victoria project director Frank De Santis said the beam blitz was a major part of the Dunnings and Palmers roads upgrades.
“This beam lift marks a huge milestone in our work to widen the Skeleton Creek Bridge to three lanes in both directions, including a dedicated bus lane on the Point Cook side of the bridge,” he said. “We hope drivers will be most impressed by the increased capacity of Skeleton Creek Bridge once work is complete.”
Walking and cycling paths will be built on both sides of the 60-metre crossing to improve access on Palmers Road between Point Cook and Williams Landing.
