A 24-year-old Point Cook man has been charged after he was caught with a firearm and other weapons during a routine police intercept.
Operations Response Unit members pulled over the car along Watton Street about 6pm on Tuesday and conducted a search of the vehicle.
It is alleged the man had a hooded top in his hand which, on further inspection, contained a bum bag with a loaded firearm and ammunition inside. Knuckledusters, an extendable baton and drugs were also seized.
The man has been charged with a number of firearm and weapon offences, including prohibited person in possession of a handgun, and will appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court today.
