Wyndham council has acknowledged the Werribee River Association’s (WRA) fortieth anniversary.
Councillor Robert Szatkowski said the WRA represented four decades of local volunteers working tirelessly to protect one of the city’s greatest natural assets.
The WRA was established in 1981 by a group of community members who were concerned about the degradation of the Werribee River.
Over the years the association has not only taken a hands-on approach to conserving the Werribee River catchment, but also advocating to all levels of government while developing and contributing to key strategies that act to preserve the Werribee River.
Cr Szatkowski congratulated the WRA’s newly-elected board and chairperson, Kathryn Williams, and all past board members.
