Werribee remembers

The community gathered around the Werribee cenotaph on Tuesday 11 November to commemorate Remembrance Day.

The event was led by the Werribee RSL Sub-branch, and while the sun promised in the morning light hail and chilly winds soon took over.

Despite the elements, dozens of people came out in force to support those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for Australia and the freedoms it provides.

The crowd stood solemnly as the Last Post rang throughout Station Place before the minute of silence.

Both the Australian and New Zealand national anthems played as army cadets stood

Local community groups, veterans, emergency service members, students and dignitaries were invited to step forward and lay wreaths.

Following the event, everyone was welcome back to the Werribee RSL for light refreshments and guaranteed there would be heating.
