For many, turning forty is a milestone that evokes more dread than excitement.
The Werribee Park Motor Inn family will not be despairing when they blow out the candles for their 40th birthday on Saturday, April 5.
Built by the Westwood family in 1985, the inn has welcomed guests to Werribee from near and far.
Sandi Fleming, who has managed the establishment with her husband Bob for the past seven years, said you never quite know who you will welcome.
“We get a lot of people from the equestrian centre, workers, the Spirits of Tasmania and lots of people visiting family and friends and the zoo of course,” she said.
“There’s some very interesting people who have come through our doors, we just love the interactions.”
The people behind the operation aren’t too bad either.
“It’s a very family-oriented business, we try to keep that family atmosphere about it,” Ms Fleming said.
Many guests find themselves using Werribee as a gateway to the rest of Melbourne or to see some Victorian wonders like the Great Ocean Road, but making sure people come back– for Werribee– is important too.
“If they’ve travelled to Werribee, generally this is their first port of call, so it’s important to make sure they are greeted with a friendly smile and they have all the information they need,” Ms Fleming said.
“We want to make sure that everyone enjoys their stay and wants to come back to Werribee.”
