Werribee Outdoor Pool re-opens in time for summer

If there’s one thing that heralds the arrival of warmer weather in Wyndham, it’s the annual opening of the Werribee Outdoor Pool.

The pool will re-open to the public tomorrow with a brand-new look thanks to a revamp completed during the off season.

Wyndham council has splashed out $300,000 on major upgrades to the change room facilities and irrigation system during the cooler months, when the pool remains closed. The facility also received a lick of paint to complete the new look.

Wyndham council sports development portfolio holder Peter Maynard said the Werribee Outdoor Pool was a favourite among Wyndham locals wanting to cool off during the warmer months.

“For a long time the Werribee Outdoor Pool has been a favourite place for Wyndham families to enjoy making a splash or getting in a few laps,” Cr Maynard said.

“These works mean that the pool will continue to be a welcoming and enjoyable destination for residents to visit into the future.

“The pool will be re-opening just in time for summer, so if you need to cool off as the weather heats up, make sure you check it out.”

The pool, located at Chirnside Park, 220 Watton Street, Werribee, will remain open until March 31, 2018. For opening hours and other information, click here
