Werribee man arrested after officer injured

Police have arrested a Werribee man as part of an investigation into an incident which allegedly left an officer with minor injuries last month.

A black Audi Q5 was intercepted in Wallace Avenue, Point Cook just before 7.30pm on August 31.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old man, informed officers his licence was suspended.

When the motorist was told his car would be searched, police allege he started the vehicle and sped off, striking an officer in the process.

The man was arrested yesterday afternoon (September 21) at a property in Mirabella Close, Werribee.

Police said a number of items were seized from the man including quantities of drugs and cash. He was charged with a range of traffic and drug offences, as well as recklessly expose emergency worker to risk.
