Emergency services in Tarneit are set to receive a major investment from the Victorian government.
More than $97,000 has been announced by the state to provide essential operational equipment, vehicles and appliances for local volunteers as part of the 2020-21 Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).
Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly announced last week that Mount Cottrell CFA Group and the Truganina CFA Brigade will receive funding to support their work.
Ms Connolly said, “these important projects will give our hardworking CFA volunteers equipment and amenities needed to effectively carry out their duties.
“I’d like to thank all of our volunteer groups for their hard work and congratulate the successful applicants in the 2020-21 round of VESEP grants.”
Truganina CFA will be granted $94,000 to establish a rehabilitation unit for the brigade, and the Mount Cottrell Group will receive $3333 to purchase a computer, screens, a smart TV and accessories.
Under the VESEP, the government matches every $1 with a $2 co-contribution, capped at $150,000 per project, bringing the total investment in the projects to $146,000.
Acting Police and Emergency Services Minister Danny Pearson said the VESEP allows “essential equipment” to be available for volunteers, ensuring they are “well resourced.”
“Emergency service volunteers make selfless and brave contributions to local communities and the broader Victorian community – and the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program supports their ongoing dedication to keeping Victorians safe,” he said.
