Weekday lift for Werribee line travellers

A new train timetable will provide Werribee commuters an extra 35 weekday off-peak services when it comes into effect later this month.

From August 27, seven new metropolitan train services will be added to the Werribee line each weekday. They will run before and after the evening peak and each will have capacity for 1000 passengers.

Bus connections to the trains will run.

Meanwhile, passengers at Spotswood, Yarraville, Seddon and South Kensington stations will have access to “turn up and go frequency” services in the evenings, meaning trains from the city will stop at these stations every 10 minutes between 7.20pm and 8.20pm.

The new services come a year after the introduction of a new morning peak service from Werribee to the city each weekday, and a new evening peak service from the city back to Werribee.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas said the new timetable would give commuters more options for travelling to and from the city on weekdays.

“This new timetable will improve capacity on some of our busiest train lines, while we get on with building Metro Tunnel, which will free up space to run even more services on the Werribee line,” he said.

The new timetable is available at ptv.vic.gov.au
