Injured and unwell patients at the U-Vet Werribee Animal Hospital are feeling much cosier, thanks to a generous donation from a local school.
Pupils from Thomas Chirnside Primary School in Werribee presented a collection of donated blankets and towels to the clinic’s staff last Thursday.
The president of the school’s parent’s club, Amy Cameron, said the blankets were collected at a fundraising movie night at which families were also asked to help warm the animals’ winters.
“It was a good way to do something for the school and something for the community,” Ms Cameron said.
She said that the school donated about 30 blankets to U-Vet.
“When we contacted them, they were rapt to get a mass donation,” Ms Cameron said.
Last week, Thomas Chirnside grade 5 and 6 pupil leaders were given a tour of the U-vet facility.
“They were really excited – they saw the horse facility, which you don’t usually get to see if you bring your pet dog or cat in,” Ms Cameron said.
