As World Pancreatic Cancer Month arrives this November, Australians are being urged to unite to honour loved ones, support those impacted by pancreatic cancer, and drive change by taking part in Pankind’s Put Your Foot Down walks across the country.
Every step taken helps fuel life-changing research and provides essential support for those living with the disease.
With flagship walks across the country, as well as a growing number of community walks, there’s a way for everyone to join in and help create a brighter future for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the eighth most common cancer in Australia and the third deadliest. Twelve people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every day in Australia, and statistics show that only three out of 10 diagnosed will survive one year after their diagnosis, with the 5-year survival rate devastatingly low at just 13 percent.
Michelle Stewart, CEO of Pankind said, 4000 people lose their life to pancreatic cancer in Australia every year.
“That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to join the Pankind community and Put Your Foot Down to help raise crucial funds. This will enable groundbreaking research to improve survival rates and access to better treatments,” said Ms Stewart said.
“All funds raised will help bring us closer our mission of tripling survival rates by 2030 and significantly improving the quality of life for those impacted by the disease.
“So take the next step and walk with us to create a brighter future for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer. Together, we can make a difference.”
Put Your Foot Down Melbourne will be held on Sunday, 19 October at Point Ormond Reserve, Elwood.
