Wyndham council’s Community Volunteer Awards are open for 2019 nominations.
The awards have seven different categories – community engagement; community health and wellbeing; arts, culture or tourism; environment and sustainability; sports and recreation; young volunteer of the year; and community group.
One of the individual category winners will be selected as Wyndham’s Citizen of the Year.
Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw is encouraging residents to make nominations.
“Our community has many residents who dedicate their time to help others and make Wyndham a wonderful place to live,” she said. “Council is calling on you to help us find these special people so we can show our gratitude and recognise their hard work.
“These committed and passionate community-minded volunteers deserve to have their efforts recognised.”
The award winners will be selected by an independent assessment panel and announced at a gala event on Friday, August 16.
All award recipients will receive a trophy and the opportunity to direct a donation to a charity or not-for-profit community group of their choice.
