The number of active COVID-19 cases in Wyndham is continuing to fall.
There were 303 active cases recorded in the municipality on Sunday, down from 406 a week earlier.
Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) data shows that as of Sunday, there were 150 active cases in the 3029 are (Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit and Truganina).
The 3030 postcode (Werribee, Point Cook, Werribee South and Quandong) recorded 121 active cases.
The 3024 postcode (Mambourin, Manor Lakes, Mount Cottrell and Wyndham Vale) recorded 26 cases and 3027 (Williams Landing) recorded seven cases.
According to DHHS, 178 virus cases have been linked to the BaptCare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee, while 35 cases have been linked to Werribee Mercy Hospital since March.
Among those fined for breaching the chief health officer’s directions was a man who visited a Tarneit convenience store during curfew hours. The man was 18 kilometres from his home address and went to the store to get food, drinks and cigarettes while visiting a friend.
Police also fined a Tarneit man who was seen at Sunshine station without a face covering.
The man claimed the reason he was more than five kilometres from home to visit his aunt.
The state government announced last month that it would continue with major road and rail works during spring.
Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan said some of the disruptions would have less impact than usual, with transport patronage and road use lower thanks to Victorians staying home due to the pandemic.
Buses will replace trains between Newport and Werribee stations from 2.45pm to the last service each day until to Sunday, September 13 to allow safety and performance testing for Melbourne’s new High Capacity Metro Trains to take place.
“The safety of our workforce and the community is our priority – we are taking strict precautions to ensure our critical transport infrastructure projects can safely continue under coronavirus restrictions,” Ms Allan said.
