Victoria has recorded its best ever NAPLAN results, ranking first or second in 18 of 20 measures.
The 2025 NAPLAN results announced on Wednesday showed 70 per cent of Victorian students fell in the ‘strong’ or ‘exceeding’ bands while primary students ranked first or second in all 10 domains.
As a result, fewer Victorian students needed additional support – with less students in the bottom band than in 2024 on 16 of 20 measures.
Victoria also achieved its highest NAPLAN participation rate since 2008, with 96.6 per cent of students completing at least one assessment in 2025.
Deputy Premier and Education Minister Ben Carroll congratulated students, teachers and principals and parents for achieving the results.
“Victoria is the Education State and our nation-leading NAPLAN results are the proof,” Mr Carroll said.
“Our investments are clearly paying off – delivering modern classrooms, great teachers and more individual support, helping make sure students have every opportunity to succeed.”
It’s hoped the $18.5 million Koorie Literacy and Numeracy Program will have a similar effect on closing the attainment gap for First Nations students.
