Wyndham residents are owed $66.90 million in lost and unclaimed superannuation, according to Australian Taxation Office data.
According to the ATO, there was $13.8 billion in lost of unclaimed super across Australia as of June 2020.
Federal Superannuation, Financial Services, Digital Economy and Women’s Economic Security Minister Jane Hume urged Australians to check the ATO website to see if they have money in an unknown or long-lost superannuation account.
According to the ATO website, workers could have lost or unclaimed super if they have changed their name, moved jobs, changed address, or forgotten to update personal details with their super fund.
The 3030 postcode, which covers Point Cook, Werribee, Werribee South and Derrimut, has the highest amount of lost and unclaimed super worth more than $33.48 million.
The postcode has 7690 individual lost super accounts.
The 3029 postcode, which covers Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit and Truganina has $25.16 million in lost and unclaimed super.
Wyndham Vale, Manor Lakes, Mambourin and Mount Cottrell residents have $6.67 million in lost and unclaimed super, while Williams Landing residents are owed $959,155 and Littler River residents $666,245,
Ms Hume said it was free to check online to see if you have any lost or unclaimed superannuation.
Between November 2019 to February 2021, almost 3.3 million Australians were reunited with their lost and unclaimed super accounts, with almost $4.3 billion
