The state government has announced two Wyndham schools will share in funding of more than $24 million, for the construction of new facilities.
Altona MP Jill Hennessy today announced that the next stage of Saltwater P-9 College in Point Cook will receive $13.06 million to build specialist learning spaces, to accommodate students in Years 7 to 9.
Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly also announced Dohertys Creek P-9 College in Truganina will receive $11.2 million, to construct specialist learning spaces to accommodate students in Years 7 to 9.
The new learning spaces at both schools are scheduled to open in 2022.
The funding for the two schools has been provided as part of a wider $438.6 million state government project, to help build 10 new schools and deliver a further four stages of new school projects.
Together, the projects will create space for more than 21,000 additional students in Victoria’s education system and more than 1600 local construction jobs.
“Saltwater P-9 is yet another great example of the school building boom that is happening right across Victoria,” Ms Hennessy said.
“This investment will build new schools, create thousands of jobs and help our economy recover from coronavirus.”
