Two-hour parking for Werribee centre

Two-hour parking will replace one-hour limits in most parts of Werribee’s city centre from this month.
New signage is already up with the rollout in full effect from November 28.
The changes are part of the Werribee City Centre Parking Strategy, which aims to give people more time to shop, socialise and work in the heart of the precinct.
Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw said it was important to give customers longer to enjoy the centre’s 526 businesses.
“Business owners told us that customers wanted more time to visit the shops, cafes and visit the broad range of services on offer right here in the city centre,” Cr Shaw said.
“There are also many social benefits for visitors, for example enjoying longer lunches at the variety of the city centre’s vibrant cafes and restaurants and not having to rush back to their car if meeting a friend in the street.
“Before this strategy was developed, we listened to the needs of the community and many people felt the hour-parking in the city centre was too restrictive, so we made this extension to the time limit a priority.”
Station Place will remain a one-hour zone.
“We have already established drop-off and pick-up zones for rail commuters on Comben Drive to avoid residents conducting prohibited drop-offs on Station Place,” Cr Shaw said.
Parking wardens will be patrolling between 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday and from 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
