Two arrested after carjacking

A Hoppers Crossing teenager is one of two arrested by police after an aerial follow in Melbourne’s north-west overnight.

Police have been told an allegedly stolen Toyota Corolla was driven to Royal Crescent, Hillside, about 1.30am on May 22.

Police said two occupants from the Corolla, who were allegedly armed with machetes, got out of the car and approached a 20-year-old Hillside man who had just parked his Kia Sorento.

The offenders chased and assaulted the 20-year-old before stealing his keys and car, according to police.

Police were notified and a short time later the Kia and Corolla were observed on the Calder Freeway headed towards the city.

The Air Wing was called in and followed the vehicles until tyre deflation devices could be safely deployed.

The vehicles travelled to Keilor and tyre deflation devices were successfully deployed on the Kia on Keilor Park Drive.

The car was abandoned by its two occupants at a nearby service station and the pair made their way into a nearby cemetery.

Police cordoned off the area and the Air Wing was able to direct members of the Dog Squad and Critical Incident Response Team to where the offenders were.

A 16-year-old boy from Hoppers Crossing and a 17-year-old boy from St Albans are currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The Corolla and its occupants are yet to be located and arrested.
