Now the Tarneit Community Learning Centre’s artist in residence is teaching people how to do the same.
“In my own practice, I always use sustainable materials,” they said.
“I thought it would be really fun to get the community into that.”
The Sustainable Wearable Art Project is a free project all residents are welcome to join.
“People can come in and collect material and I can give them sewing tips and I work with them to create an outfit for themselves,” they said.
The next sessions will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 3-5:30pm and Thursday, September 15, at 2-4:30pm.
