Truganina’s new open space now open.

Truganina now has some much needed extra green space, with Alcock Rd Reserve officially open.

Turf on the reserve’s three soccer pitches, which can also be used for cricket, has now been established, marking the completion of the $15 million project.

A pavilion, car park, tennis courts, cricket nets, playgrounds and BBQ facilities have already been completed at the reserve, which is part of the Truganina South-East Community Precinct Masterplan.

Wyndham Mayor Susan McIntyre said reserves like Alcock Rd were crucial pieces of community infrastructure.

“Active open spaces play a vital role in the life of a community – they provide a

space for exercising, playing and watching outdoor sports, meeting, socialising with

friends and family or relaxing and unwinding,” Cr McIntyre said.

Councillor Peter Maynard said the new reserve would benefit local athletes, both amateur and professional.

“This exciting new space gives Truganina residents the sport and recreation facilities they need at their doorstep.

We also welcome Western United Football Club, who will use this asset as their

interim training base while the Regional Football Facility is under construction” Cr Maynard said.

Wyndham council funded the bulk of the project, contributing $12 million while the state government added $3 million.
