Truganina South Primary School pupils tapped into their inner horticulturists last week when they planted 170 trees in recognition of national Schools Tree Day.
About 150 pupils spent Friday morning planting 70 trees inside the school grounds and 100 trees behind the school, along Federation Boulevard.
Science and sustainability teacher Vanessa Accornero said the school participated in Schools Tree Day every year.
This year, the trees were supplied by City West Water and gloves and tree guards were supplied by Toyota.
“We have a high focus on sustainability at this school, so it is tied in with our curriculum,” Ms Accornero said.
“We have a science and sustainability program that all of our students take part in.”
