Truganina man arrested

A Truganina man has been charged with procuring a child to engage in sexual activity outside Australia and possessing child exploitation material.

Police arrested the 49-year-old man on Thursday following an investigation by the Victorian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET).

He appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded to appear again on October 20.

Police said  the Australian Federal Police (AFP) received a report related to online child exploitation, from the US-based National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, in May this year.

As a result of investigations officers from JACET, AFP and Victoria Police executed search warrants at the man’s Truganina house last week.

Police allegedly found child exploitation material contained in electronic devices, DVD and magazines at the house.
