A European online retailer is set to build an 80,960 square metre distribution hub in Truganina.
The Financial Review reported last month that Netherlands-based VidaXL, which sells outdoor furniture, garden products and homewares, has struck a deal with Frasers Property Industrial.
The distribution hub will be built on an 11.4 hectare site within Frasers’ Canvas West business estate on Boundary Road.
Construction of the national distribution hub, which will include a 68,600 square metre warehouse, is due to be completed in April next year.
Frasers Property Industrial general manager Anthony Maugeri said the deal with VidaXL was completed via the internet, due to international COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“The new national distribution centre is designed to help VidaXL accommodate its rapid online business growth and customer demand, which is in line with the rise of e-commerce and a structural shift towards online retailing,” Mr Maugeri said.
According to the Realestatesource.com.au website, VisaXL is already renting a 30,885 square metre warehouse in Maker Place, Truganina. That lease is set to expire next year.
VidaXL has six offices across the world, 1550 employees and collaborates with 1000 factories on a global scale.
The company began in 2006, when Dutch entrepreneurs Gerjan den Hartog and Wouter Bakker started selling products on e-Bay.
They started developing their own branded products and selling them in Europe, and now also sell online in Australia and the United States.
