Truganina development opposed

A Truganina resident has voiced concerns about a proposal to build 26 houses, including 14 double-storey and 12 triple-storey dwellings, in his court.

Ian Mullins said the planning permit application, for a block of about 5920 square metres in Blake Court, showed that all of the houses to be built would have a single-car garages. But he said there were only plans to build five on-site visitor carparks.

The developer’s plans state that traffic generated by residents driving to and from the new houses will result in about 180 to 220 additional vehicle movements per day in Blake Court.

The proposal states this “will not create congestion or significantly increase traffic volumes within the local street network”.

But Mr Mullins said Blake Court was a “small, quiet” street with just 10 houses. He is worried it won’t be able to handle a large increase in traffic.

He said there was also limited room for cars to park in the court.

“This development will triple the traffic volume and turn the street into a carpark, as there’s only five visitor parks for the 26 units,” he said.
