Truganina development greenlit

A proposal to develop 68 dwellings at 190 Woods Road, Truganina has been approved by a Wyndham council planning committee.

The planning permit received a thumbs-up from councillors at a meeting held on Tuesday, December 14.

The application was exempt from the public notice under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.

The proposal submitted to the council shows that 24 of the residences to be constructed at the site will have four bedrooms.

Twenty-six of the properties will have three bedrooms and an additional 10 houses will feature three bedrooms, plus a home office.

Eight of the abodes will have two bedrooms.

The proposal includes a shared internal laneway, to be accessed from Everton Road, providing access to the garages of each dwelling.

Eleven off-street visitor car parking spaces will be located within the development.

Private bicycle hoops will also be installed within the common property area.

Communal open space will be located near Everton Road and the Regional Rail Link access track.

The tallest dwellings will have a maximum height of three stories.

However, Wyndham councillor Josh Gilligan said it was “disappointing” there was no plan for higher-density on the site, given its proximity to a future planned train station.

A council report said the design of the future development “is of a high architectural standard, provides landscaped linear spaces for canopy trees with the benefit of cooling and reduction of heat island effect, water sensitive urban design outcomes and environmentally sustainable design measures incorporated into the buildings”.
