Graeme Oxley’s love affair with Triumphs started more than 50 years ago.

The Wyndham Vale resident, who owns three of the iconic cars, will be among hundreds of exhibitors at the Historic Winton racing weekend next month.

Mr Oxley said he was looking forward to showing his 1974 Triumph Stag at the long-running event, which will run over three days from Friday, May 17, at Winton Motor Raceway near Benalla.

“My affiliation with Triumph goes back to 1955,” he said. “My dad was a standard Triumph and Ferguson (tractor) dealer in the ’50s and ’60s. I got my first one in 1966 and I have had a Triumph car every working day of my life. When I was in the air force, I owned a Triumph TR6 when I was posted to America.”

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Triumph TR6 model, which first came off the production line in September 1968.

Fellow Triumph enthusiast Terry Roche will join the event’s ranks with his 1974 TR6.

“When I was in my 20s I used to look at them and say, ‘I want one of those’,” Mr Roche said. “Now I’m retired and I finally own one.”

Mr Oxley’s collection includes a 1968 Triumph 2000 Mk1 and a 1975 Triumph 2.5 PI.
